Orders in, returns out, VAT in five countries

Selling across the EU means the €10,000 OSS threshold, destination-country VAT rates, marketplace payouts that arrive net of fees and refunds that undo last month's numbers. Kontevia handles your supplier documents today; OSS and payout tools are planned.

Where the paperwork hurts

The OSS threshold and destination VAT

Once your cross-border B2C sales in the EU exceed €10,000 a year, VAT is due at the rate of the customer's country. Twenty-seven rates, one quarterly OSS return.

Marketplace payouts that do not match orders

Amazon, Zalando or Etsy pay out a net amount after fees, refunds and reserves. Reconciling that against individual orders by hand takes an afternoon.

Returns and refunds

A refund is a credit note, a VAT correction and a bank movement. Miss one of the three and the books do not add up.

What Kontevia does for you

VAT by customer country (planned)

Recording sales by customer country and producing the quarterly OSS summary is planned. Today supplier invoices and receipts are extracted and exported for your accountant.

Supplier invoices by e-mail

Forward supplier PDFs to your Kontevia address. Items, VAT and due date are extracted and matched to the bank payment when it leaves.

Marketplace payouts (planned)

Importing payout statements and splitting them into sales, fees and refunds is planned.

Currencies

Invoices are issued in CZK or EUR today. Documents in other currencies are extracted with their currency; automatic conversion for multi-currency sales is planned.

Kontevia is in early access. Connections to national e-invoicing and clearance systems are not available yet; support is planned country by country.

Rules that apply across the EU

  • Cross-border B2C sales within the EU above €10,000 a year are taxed at the rate of the customer's country, for example 19 % in Germany, 23 % in Poland and 22 % in Italy.
  • The One Stop Shop lets you report all EU B2C sales in one quarterly return filed in your home country.

Examples are taken from our country data for individual EU states. Pick your country from the menu to see the rules that apply to you.

Our sister product DokladBot processed 2,455 documents in its Czech pilot (Apr–Aug 2026). Kontevia runs on the same engine, extended with rules for all 27 EU countries.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kontevia connect to my shop platform?

Direct connectors to shop platforms and imports of order or payout files are on the roadmap, not live yet. Today you forward supplier invoices by e-mail and export the records for your accountant. Tell us which platform you use and we will prioritise it.

Can Kontevia prepare my OSS return?

Not yet. Recording sales by customer country and producing the quarterly OSS summary is planned. Today you prepare the OSS return with your accountant, who gets your documents as an export.

How does it handle returns?

When you record a refund, Kontevia creates the credit note, reverses the VAT and matches the outgoing bank payment, so the period stays consistent.

Which currencies are supported?

Invoices are issued in CZK or EUR today. Received documents keep their original currency; conversion to your reporting currency for other currencies is planned.
