E-invoicing
Peppol
An open network for exchanging e-invoices and other business documents between registered participants through certified access points.
What Peppol means
Peppol is a set of specifications and a governed network that lets businesses and public bodies exchange electronic documents regardless of the software they use. Each participant connects through an access point, and any access point can deliver to any other, similar to how e-mail providers interoperate. Participants are identified by a Peppol ID, often derived from the VAT ID or a national company number.
The most used document is the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 invoice, which is a profile of the EN 16931 standard. Peppol started as a public procurement project and is now the default rail for e-invoicing in many EU countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, the Nordics and the Baltic states, and it is the planned channel for ViDA cross-border reporting. Kontevia is prepared to send and receive invoices through a Peppol access point.
