Accounting for creators, streamers and online professionals

Payouts from five platforms, taxed in one country

YouTube, Patreon, Twitch, sponsorships from abroad and a product sent instead of a fee. Income comes from everywhere; the tax return is filed at home. Kontevia keeps the source, currency and VAT treatment of each payout.

Where the paperwork hurts

Platform payouts are not invoices

Ad revenue, memberships and affiliate commissions arrive as payouts, often self-billed and in USD. Your books still need a document for each.

Income from abroad

A sponsor in another EU country or the US means reverse charge, withholding tax questions and currency conversion.

Barter and gifted products

A product received for a review is income at its market value in most countries. It is also the easiest thing to forget.

What Kontevia does for you

Payout statements as documents

Forward payout e-mails or statements as PDF. Kontevia extracts each into a revenue document with its currency. Importing platform statements in bulk is planned.

Invoices to foreign sponsors

Issue invoices in EUR or CZK with reverse-charge wording for EU business clients. Invoices in USD or GBP are planned.

Barter recording

Record a gifted product with its market value as income and, where deductible, as an expense, so the return is honest and defensible.

Threshold and deadlines

Tracking your turnover against the VAT registration threshold and filing reminders are planned. The free tax calendar shows both for your country today.

Kontevia is in early access. Connections to national e-invoicing and clearance systems are not available yet; support is planned country by country.

Rules that apply to you in Malta

  • The standard VAT rate in Malta is 18 %.
  • VAT registration becomes mandatory above a turnover of €35,000; services bought from platforms abroad may require registration earlier, so check with your accountant.
  • Malta has no flat-rate income scheme; creator income is taxed at the normal progressive rates.
  • VAT returns are filed quarterly. Deadline: 15th day of the second month after the VAT period (quarterly by default)

Rates and thresholds come from our country data for Malta and are checked against official sources. Always confirm the current values with your tax authority or accountant before filing.

Our sister product DokladBot processed 2,455 documents in its Czech pilot (Apr–Aug 2026). Kontevia runs on the same engine, extended with rules for all 27 EU countries.

Frequently asked questions

Is a platform payout taxable income?

Yes, in every EU country. Ad revenue, memberships, tips and affiliate commissions are business income regardless of whether the platform sends an invoice.

Do I charge VAT to a sponsor in the US?

Services to a business outside the EU are generally outside the scope of EU VAT, but the rules on place of supply are detailed. Kontevia applies the standard treatment and your accountant can adjust it.

How do I record a gifted product?

Record it as income at its market value. Whether it is also a deductible expense depends on how you use it and on national rules; Kontevia keeps both sides separate so the decision is visible.

Can Kontevia handle several currencies?

Yes. Each transaction keeps its original currency and is converted to your reporting currency with the rate of the transaction date.
